The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is the Head of the Church (Eph. 1:22–23, 4:15, 5:23). He is the One that we seek and follow as He continues the movement that He started 2,000 years ago through His perfect life, substitutionary death and victorious resurrection. After He ascended into heaven, He gave us His Spirit and established His Church.
Underneath the authority of Jesus we believe that God appointed some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, pastors(elders), and some to be teachers.(Eph. 4:11) While the office of apostles and prophets is no longer with us, we still have evangelist, elders and teachers to help lead the church closer to Jesus.
